Preferred Care Pharmacy introduces “Meet the Staff,” a new question and answer series featuring two Preferred Care staff members every two weeks. This week, we highlight Judie Able, billing specialist and Linda Cottrell, order entry pharmacy technician!
Judie Able
Q: What is your position/role at Preferred Care? How long have you worked in pharmacy?
I am a billing specialist here at Preferred Care. I am responsible for all the billing output and collections for the entire pharmacy. I started working here in May 2018 and this is my first experience working in LTC pharmacy. I have enjoyed learning a new market and have used a lot of tools that I have picked up in my 30+ years of experience in human resources.
Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Preferred Care?
Coming from the corporate world, I really appreciate working for a family-run business that provides a fun and comfortable atmosphere. Everyone here really works together and helps each other in a shared mission to get our communities all the medications they need. There are some hard days but we are all in it together!
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
I LOVE my two amazing daughters and four grandchildren. I just love being with them and feel so blessed to have them near me.
Linda Cottrell
Q: What is your position/role at Preferred Care? How long have you worked in pharmacy?
I am an order-entry pharmacy technician here at Preferred Care. I am responsible for entering a major portion of prescription data into our pharmacy software QS1. This data contributes to getting prescriptions filled, building resident Medication Administration Records (MARs) and more. I have more than 35 years of experience in long-term care pharmacy.
Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Preferred Care?
Preferred Care is a wonderful place to work. It has a very laid-back atmosphere and great people. I have worked at other LTC pharmacies and things can get stressful, but we all work together here at Preferred Care.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
I really enjoy spending time with my family on the weekends. We often go to lunch. Food seems to bring us together!
