This question and answer series will feature two new Preferred Care Pharmacy staff members every two weeks. This week, we introduce Cindy Smoak, billing supervisor and Samantha Ariza, data entry pharmacy technician!
Cindy Smoak
- What is your position/role at Preferred Care? How long have you worked in the field of pharmacy?
I am the billing supervisor here at Preferred Care. I have been with the company for 11 great years and I have worked in just about every department at the pharmacy. I started as a pharmacy technician filling scripts and packing meds. Within the last five years I have moved into a more administrative role, managing the billing of all of our customers. I spend a lot of time on the phone with insurance providers getting our patients’ medications covered and taken care of!
- What is your favorite thing about working at Preferred Care?
It seems like the longer I work here, the more I enjoy it. I get to use my experience to help clients optimize their insurance plans, reduce their bills and ultimately stay healthy. We have got a great team here. We are a second family and we work together very well.
- What do you like to do in your free time?
I love being home and enjoying my family, especially my two-year-old grandson. Watching him grow up and spoiling him is the ultimate gift.
Samantha Ariza
- What is your position/role at Preferred Care? How long have you worked in the field of pharmacy?
I am a data-entry pharmacy technician and I have been with Preferred Care for three years. I am responsible for the refilling process with Instafill, which requires making sure billing and filling claims go through. I also help manage and print MARs for our customers.
- What is your favorite thing about working at Preferred Care?
Preferred Care is like a second family to me. I have worked on the other side of this business, in several residential care facilities here in the Charleston area, so, I use my unique experience to help my teammates here at Preferred Care understand exactly what our customers need.
- What do you like to do in your free time?
I love spending time with my dogs and in my garden. I also love to cook. I look for any opportunity to cook for family and friends.
