In this question and answer series, Preferred Care Pharmacy will feature two new staff members every few weeks. This week, we introduce Amanda Bigda, staff pharmacist and Jodi Szermeta, pharmacy technician.
Amanda Bigda
What is your position/role at Preferred Care? How long have you worked in the pharmacy field?
I am a staff pharmacist here at Preferred Care. I have been a pharmacist for 22 years and six of the best were spent here at Preferred. My duties include filling and checking prescriptions and assisting our communities in getting their medications in their preferred packaging. We have some awesome customers!
What is your favorite thing about working at Preferred Care?
I enjoy having a relaxed work space that also comes with challenging daily tasks. I also love the people we have at Preferred Care. We are a close-knit bunch and have become good friends over the years.
What do you like to do in your free time?
My husband and I love college football, especially my Carolina Gamecocks. We love to travel and go to the games. I really love curling up with a good book and my fur babies.
Jodi Szermeta
What is your position/role at Preferred Care? How long have you worked in the pharmacy field?
I am a pharmacy technician and a class clown! I have worked at Preferred Care for seven great years and I have worked in pharmacy a total of 16 years.
What is your favorite thing about working at Preferred Care?
My favorite thing is the people. We are a great team, and we work together extremely well. I work on the opus team, packing the cassettes for our opus homes. It can be physically demanding but it is a rewarding job knowing we are helping the community.
What do you like to do in your free time?
As of late, I enjoy looking up new DIY projects that I know I will never do. I love my job, but I also cherish my time off. One of my favorite hobbies is to crochet.
